The second day of the Friendship Across Borders project “Polak, Węgier – dwa bratanki” mobility, financed by the Visegrad Fund, went like this:
The students of the XXXVIII Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Stanisława Kostki Potockiego school in Warsaw welcomed the Hungarian guests with great love. In the morning, short warm-up games helped them get to know each other better, then the students participated in a history lesson led by Mr. Marek Hurda. After visiting the school and enjoying a delicious, traditional Polish lunch, the students set off for Ursynów, where the monument to János Esterházy, a Czechoslovak politician of Hungarian and Polish descent, can be found. The students learned that he was an open-minded person who showed extraordinary humanism in difficult times. From 1939, he supported the Poles, including by organizing the relocation of Polish soldiers to Hungary. At the end of the day, the students were able to tour Warsaw using a specially prepared map, which also included places related to Polish-Hungarian history. We would like to thank teachers Karolina Majk and Dominika Zasłona Dukielska, as well as teachers Erzsébet Torma and Edina Gál-Gazdag, and all the participating students.
